Self Defence Around a Vehicle Workshop

A 2-part workshop focusing on self defence in and around your car. Both parts will be 1 1/2 hours held on Saturdays at Gadebridge Park Car Park.

The workshop is open to all Streetwise students, friends and anybody who wants to train some real world techniques in an environment most of us spend a lot of time in. Part one (19th November) covers approaching your vehicle, with both parties outside the car. With scenarios including being attacked from behind whilst opening the door, pinned to the bonnet and knife point mugging at your car, among others. Part one also includes removing a threat from the driver seat. Taken more from law enforcement and 3rd party protection training, it is useful to know how to get someone out of your car effectively.

Part two (26th November) focuses on how to defend yourself from inside the car. Training techniques to counter being attacked from the passenger seat, open hand and with a knife, how to quickly exit the vehicle and ejecting the attacker. Part two also covers a threat from outside the car, coming through the drivers window, from grab, strikes, knife and gun.

Places on the workshop are limited and we will need to sort out enough cars so the cut off time for booking is 12th November. Forms can be picked up from the Streetwise Studio or downloaded from the website here.

Cost for the workshop is £15 for both parts or £10 for just one (choose which part on the booking form).

New Krav Maga Ground Defence Class on Mondays

NEW Krav Maga Ground Defence Class: Monday, 8.15pm at the Streetwise Studio.
Included in Streetwise Pay Monthly or £6.50 a class.

Focusing on all the ground based self defence techniques from the Krav Maga syllabus plus grappling fundamentals, pressure drills, striking technique (striking on the ground and defending), takedowns, gaining your feet, sparring (Gi, NoGi and Street clothing) and more. Great for all Krav Maga students and open to anybody else that wants to learn how to defend themselves if they hit the deck.

You will need a Gi to save your clothes from getting ripped, and anyone that has been choked with a T-shirt collar will tell you its not the most pleasant of experiences. Any Judo or Jiu-Jitsu Gi is brilliant and is a worthwhile investment, you can buy the Streetwise Krav patches from the studio to style it out.

The ground is a bad place to be in self defence, even worse if you have no idea what to do when you get there. With a high chance that in a confrontation at least one person will end up on the floor, either by knock down, takedown or simply trips up, learning some ground defence is time well spent.
